Shaoxing, with its rich history, is home to an ancient town that remains wonderfully untouched by commercialism.

Bazi Bridge, which has stood for over 800 years, feels like a place where time has simply stood still.

The ancient bridge crosses a winding river, and beneath it, black-awning boats glide slowly, creating ripples across the water. Stroll along the stone-paved path by the river, and you’ll find old houses with weathered walls, each telling its own story of the past.

八字桥一带，古桥横跨在悠悠小河之上，桥下乌篷船缓缓划过，船桨拨开水面，泛起层层涟漪。沿着河边的石板路漫步，街边的老房子错落有致，斑驳的墙壁诉说着岁月的故事。

From here, take a walk to the home of the Sage of Calligraphy.

你可以从八字桥走到书圣故里。

As you wander through, you'll notice the charm of every little shop. Picture yourself buying a 20th-century blue printed qipao, sipping 21st-century coffee, and watching 19th-century boats glide by.

你可以看到时间的痕迹，每一家小店都温暖有趣。买一条20世纪的蓝印花布旗袍，喝着21世纪的咖啡，看19世纪的乌篷船划过。

Wang Xizhi, the most famous calligrapher in Chinese history, was born over 1700 years ago. He’s a living legend, often called the Sage of Calligraphy, and his legacy lives on in Shaoxing.

王羲之，是中国最出名的书法家，他出生于1700多年前，已经是一个传说了，他被尊称为书圣，所以这里叫做书圣故里。

One must-see spot is the Ink Pool, where legend has it that Wang Xizhi washed his brushes. Who knows, a quick dip here might just bring you a bit of that calligraphy magic!

一定要来这里看看，墨池，据说王羲之曾经在这里洗笔，沾一下福气，以后也能写得一手好书法

Wang Xizhi also famously inscribed fans for an old lady right here. You can find many similar ones.

Not far from here is the Qingteng Bookstore, originally known as Liuhua Bookstore. This was the home and study place of Xu Wei, a renowned calligrapher and painter from the Ming Dynasty. Known as the 'Chinese Van Gogh,' Xu Wei was a genius in many artistic fields, and this little bookstore still carries his literary spirit.

青藤书屋原名“榴花书屋”，是明代书画大家徐渭（号青藤老人）的故居与读书处。这位被誉为“中国梵高”的奇才，一生坎坷却才华横溢，在书法、绘画、诗文、戏曲等领域均有极高造诣。书屋虽小，却浓缩了徐渭的文人风骨。

Just next door, be sure to check out the Xu Wei Art Museum. The interactive Xu Wei painting is seriously cool! It turns out that this Ming Dynasty artist was way ahead of his time with his immersive art.

Lu Xun, a famous 19th-century Chinese writer, lived The Home of the Sage of Lu Xun. You can even take a black-awning boat to get there!

Over a hundred years ago, Lu Xun took this very boat to study at Sanwei Study, a traditional Chinese school.You can see the character 'Zao' engraved by Lu Xun on the table.

一百多年前，鲁迅也是这样坐着乌篷船，去三味书屋读书，这是中国的私塾。你可以见到鲁迅刻在桌上的“早”字。

The ancient Chinese had some pretty fun ways to drink rice wine. One of the most romantic was the qu shui liu shang—a drinking game with floating goblets. It’s one of the most poetic ways to enjoy wine in China’s history.
